Jess Williams

My sporting journey began with my own weight loss journey aged 15, bullying from a young age made me determined to lose weight, unfortunately this transpired to form a 10 year on/off battle with various eating disorders which I used sport and my ability within it to help me overcome….. I rehabbed myself and hence why I’m an advocate for a “healthy” diet and lifestyle approach as I believe “quick fixes” can be damaging to your overall physical and mental health. I use my journey through my rehabilitation to show others what hard work and determination can achieve you! I speak openly about this all so as to try and prevent others from going down the same route!

I studied sports, health, exercise and nutrition diploma at Leeds university having always had a vast interest in sports nutrition from the age of 17.

Working in stroke rehab for 5 years as well as alongside palliative care patients I realised that I wanted to help others obtain the skills to have a healthier lifestyle and the know how to create this for themselves!

My background in stroke rehab also saw me work alongside physios and the dietitians as a dietetic assistant for a year period in 2016-2017 before I decided to return to ward based care work.

I have experience in rehabilitation from injury as this is something I have had to do on many occasions myself and in 2017 I had to make the difficult decision to withdraw from international competitions due to a severe glute based injury hence since then I’ve incorporated strength based work regularly into my training!

Highlights of my duathlon career include…

  • Two-time British Champion
  • Silver medallist at the World Championships for the GB age Group team
  • Bronze medallist at the World Championships for the GB age Group team
  • Twice qualified for UCI in the Gran Fondo.
  • Silver European Medalist
  • 2020 county qualifier
  • Top 25% female athlete finishers in the south of England cross country

To focus on obtaining the fitness qualifications I’ve taken a year out of Duathlon with the aim I will return to the sport in February 2020. My aim for this season is to continue to focus on my cycling (I’ve competed in the tour of Cambridge Chrono and race Gran Fondo and will continue to focus on developing my strength and experience in road racing as well as time trials).

My main goal is to help others to improve their quality of physical and mental well being by creating a lifestyle that is maintainable, achievable and enjoyable! I aim to show how you can add quality to your life and to be supportive and enthusiastic whatever your level of ability. Please don’t think because I am an athlete I’m beyond working alongside those who are novice to sport, remember, we all must begin somewhere and that’s how I started out! I’m an approachable and encouraging individual and would like to support you across your journey. You won’t meet a more enthusiastic and driven individual determined to see you succeed.
